NOTES OF PRODUCTION...
   Production is cinema’s artistic rite. We believe that the author needs to also be his own producer, that is, he must take the job under his wing and therefore pay for his woes generated by his decision to follow his creative will in a Calvinistic way. Once this concept has been grasped, even if Calvinism is unfeasible at our latitude because of the heat and conflict of interest (Ring film’s office is in Rome!), the risk of running into the conflicting producer - director relationship is lessened. First of all: our work is group effort, sharing and confrontation. We raised half our budget, (a little more than €11,000) through crowd-funding while our company covered the remaining part. The production lasted two years. I met Alessio and Matteo at the Rome film festival in 2013 where they presented Belva Nera and we made the decision to make il Solengo together. Massimilliano Navarra organized the first essential shoot. There were never more than seven people on the film crew and at its lowest there were only two. It would have been impossible to make this film maintaining certain costs and this quality without our Director of Photography, Simone D’Acangelo and his skill, passion and temperament. And of course there are Ercole, Ugo, Orsetto, Giovanni, Lanfranco and all the other characters of the film who tell the story of il Solengo. We will continue to make films until there is a tale to tell on screen, until it makes sense even if it doesn’t, we’re bubbling under!
